Conundrum--Torchwood: Miracle Day

Torchwood: Miracle Day airs on Starz tonight and I'm just not ready for it.  I am currently on episode 10 of series one, which I think is great progress, but is not good enough.  The question that has been plaguing me since I realized earlier in the week that I wouldn't catch up in time is this: Do I continue watching Torchwood in order or do I skip over a large portion of the show and start into Miracle Day tonight?  I'm told, and believe, that anyone could jump right into Miracle Day and be completely up to speed.  I believe this not just because I trust the people who have mentioned it but also because it is in Starz's best interest for this to be the case.  Therefore, the decision comes down to whether or not I feel that I should complete the showrunner's journey as it is laid out or not.

The decision that I came to (reluctantly) was to stick with my rewatch plan and let the Miracle Day episodes stack up until I'm ready to delve in.  This means that I'll need to be actively dodging spoilers until I watch another 21 episodes.  The main reason that I chose to keep going with the catch-up project is that I'm interested in the world building going on in the Dr. Who/Torchwood universe.  Like I mentioned earlier I know that I dont need to know anything going into Miracle Day but I'm intrigued with the world the characters inhabit.  I think that a more informed view of the world and the characters that follow through into Miracle Day will help to deepen my enjoyment of the new series when I am able to watch it.  The added depth of appreciation I'm hoping that this tactic will garner me for the new series is worth the spoiler battles ahead.  If I buckle down I will be fully caught up by the time the third episode of the new series airs.  That seems like a good goal and one that I'm going to try and make.

Has anyone else had a problem similar to this?  I would love to hear some thoughts on the topic of jumping into a show verses a full catch-up.
